8 years ago, on Valentine’s Day, Pastor Dave and his family started as Pastors at Yandina Baptist Church. A lot has happened, and many things have changed over that time, so we thought we’d ask Pastor Dave a few questions about ‘turning 8’.
What was your first impression of Yandina Baptist?
A welcoming, caring group of older people who had shown a faithfulness to God and to His church.
How do you think the church has grown in the last 8 years?
The biggest one is probably the purchase of the Connections building. I’m not really into having ‘big’ buildings but what the purchase did was enable us to be more active and connected in our community with ministries such as Men’s Shed and the Community Playgroup. We’ve also had a lot of new people of all ages come and call YB their spiritual home.
How have you grown and changed in the last 8 years?
I’ve gotten older and greyer 😊 I’ve realised the importance of being connected into the community and the difference that you can make by being available. I’ve also grown as a Pastor and I’m thankful for those who have helped in that.
Where do you see the church going for the next 8 years?
We need to be blurring the lines between church and community and having more and more influence with the people around us.
